Accessing Potential

CBEBP runs distinctive programmes for students for whom traditional schooling is not appropriate. The aim is to increase motivation, skill levels and self-confidence by means of a combination of work experience, tailored courses and traditional lessons. The aim of the programme is to unlock the potential of 15-16 year old students who find it hard to learn in the traditional school environment.

Each student is allocated to a Key Worker, who liaises between the school, parents, employers and other services where appropriate.

The Key Worker works closely with the student, encouraging them to set goals for themselves, assessing their needs and monitoring progress.

An individual student's programme could include:

  • Work Experience
  • College taster days
  • Team Building courses
  • Residential courses
  • Interview skills courses
  • Mentoring
  • Key Skills courses
  • Activities to boost confidence, assertiveness and self-esteem

Accessing Potential's year culminated in a presentation at Leighton Park School, with certificates presented by each keyworker and special guests.
