Year 10 & 11 (14 – 16)
The main block work experience programme, of one week, is aimed at students during the last two years of compulsory education, those aged between 14-16.
This is not a vocational taster or a chance to try out a choice of career, but it is a very valuable opportunity. This week will help all young people understand and develop the employability skills and positive 'can-do' attitude that will benefit them, with whatever they choose to do at work, in the future.

Year 12 & 13 (16 – 18)
Some schools may choose to do their block placement during Years 12 & 13, although this is the exception and not the norm.
Year 12 / 13 placements are more usually more targetted opportunities for a student to gain experience and gather evidence for the courses they are studying at school and college. These placements do have a vocational focus and the students are required to use these opportunities productively.

CRED (Creative Education 15 – 16)
This is an alternative educational programme for students who need to re-engage with education. The Centre tailors a programme specifically for the student based on their needs and interests. CRED works in partnership with a number of other organisations and for some students there may also be an element of work experience encompassed in their programme.
Schools refer students to the Centre and they are accepted after interview / assessment.

Special Needs
Most of our main stream schools have a number of students with special needs and we work with the schools to ensure that any work experience organised meets their needs. We also have other programmes where we work on a more one-to-one basis with the students and develop a more structured and tailored programme to suit these students.
For more information on Special Needs Work Experience please contact Will Headland at Central Berkshire EBP.
