The CBEBP has launched this programme, Work Wise, to provide individual support to 14-16 year olds (key stage 4) who need help to build their confidence and improve their social skills, before entering into the work place.
Work Wise will prepare the students before they enter into the workplace on their work experience week by giving them realistic expectations of work and information on how they need to behave during their placement.
The programme will involve the student:
1. Considering what work experience is
2. Developing life/work skills:
  • Assertiveness
  • Body Language
  • Confidence
  • Independent travelling
3. Developing social skills:
  • Professional/appropriate communication
  • Expressing enthusiasm and motivation
4. Attending a work experience placement
5. Receiving support whilst attending their placement
6. Receiving careers guidance
And may also include the student accessing other programmes of work:
  • Training Provisions e.g. E2E (Customer Service, Beauty), Skidz (Motor Vehicles), Brick By Brick (Construction), Chiltern Training (Childcare)
  • Outward Bound Activities
Or other interventions can be considered at the request of the school, parents or students.
Work Wise has a work related learning focus and strives to help the students develop strong employability skills. The overall goal is for the student to learn and enjoy new experiences that are fun and varied.
